  1. Pb says:

Have they hired Jay Carney as a spokesperson? This is pure propaganda.

  2. Ralph says:

Propaganda, and at least one little fib:

“…after Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori accepted Mark Lawrence’s renunciation of his orders as a bishop in The Episcopal Church.”

It is obvious that whomever wrote this…. ummm…. PR release has not read Judge Houck’s decision which basically eviscerates any First Amendment claims by TEC-SC. [Quite interesting reading even for non attorneys like myself]. So I doubt that argument will be convincing to Judge Goodstein. I will add another piece of misinformation. TEC-SC completely ignores the injunction against them which clearly states that +Mark Lawrence and a few other named leaders of the Diocese of South Carolina are the ONLY people currently allowed under SC law to use the name and marks of the diocese. They can have their view point but deliberately ignoring current facts is misrepresentation of the worst kind.

Change the gospel to the gozpell (TM), the canons to anything you like, and expect that TEc would quibble over mere law? Any prevarication in a storm, I suppose. But DioSC was making the whole EO look bad by actually growing. So, making it up out of whole cloth is to be expected. And, probably, the P”B” needs another personal litigation assistant to keep up. (Note to the Executive Committee: “Do you wonder where the money went?”).

  5. Ad Orientem says:

They left out the byline… PRAVDA.

    3. SC Blue Cat Lady, since when has TEC ever adhered to any legal decision which doesn’t agree with them without demanding that it be referred to a higher court? They’ve demonstrated that they’ll use every trick in the book, and some that aren’t, to get their way.

  8. SC blu cat lady says:

Agreed, Cennydd. Just pointing out the misinformation in their …. umm… press release. This is misrepresentation of the worst kind!

  9. Uh Clint says:

Ralph beat me to it. Bp Lawrence never renounced his orders, either explicitly or implicitly. The determination that he had done so was a decision made solely by KJS, and in flagrant violation of the Canons.

One of the really, really frustrating things is that most people will read the ENS item and take it at face value – because, after all, who within TEC would possibly tell/propagate an untruth? When you begin the fight with one arm strapped behind your back, an eyepatch over one eye, and leg shackles, it’s no wonder you can’t mount any kind of reasonable defense – let alone an offense.

Well, at least we know the eye color of those who write TEC’s press releases. If any of them has an eye showing even a tinge of blue or green, that person must either be malnourished or need to consult a gastroenterologist.
